Current Role
As a Veterinary Technician, for well over 25 years, I enjoy working side by side with staff learning and mentoring together. As a Practice Manager for a couple dozen years I do my best to help the facility perform at it's most efficient. The best part of my job is interacting with clients. My relationships have turned into friendships over the many years... from puppy-hood to the now senior patient. The cycle of life.
Favorite Vetcove Tip
My favorite by far has been ordering. To be able to compare prices at a single glance and have invoices all in one place for accounting ease. The next is the discussion groups. Simply amazing. Being able to reach out and know you're in a place that has like minded professionals and a wealth of knowledge to share. No longer are you alone at your station wondering where to get a particular product or answer to a question. The Vetcove staff is also so fun and helpful... just a great bunch of people!!!
Favorite Veterinary Life Hack
"Peep holes" in all exam doors. This allows you to peek in without disturbing the appointment on the other side whether it be a routine examination or end-of-life discussion.
Reasons I love working in the veterinary field
I believe the phrase "I love animals" is a prerequisite to working in this field. It is a passion. It's an internal drive to wake up each new work day and look forward to helping the next furry patient and their people no matter what happened yesterday. To strive to make a difference in their lives and love them up while they are in ours... whether it be for just a 15 minute check up appointment or for several days in hospitalization. It's been an amazing career... To "love animals" is the first step... to have a passion for animals is the ability to continue on that journey! -jas
