Current Role

I am currently the head technician here at Vermont Large Animal Clinic (VLAC.) My responsibilities include managing all of our ICU Technicians, all patient treatments during the day, equine anesthesia, housekeeping, answering phones and making appointments, keeping the clinic/barn spotless, giving tours and educational sessions for small and large groups of people in all age ranges, patient restraint, on farm treatments, assisting in diagnostic procedures in-house and in field, run all in house blood work and fecal samples, and the inventory manager.

Favorite Vetcove Tip

If you are having a moment where you're unsure where to order a certain product, if you don't know the regulatory requirements, if you are just having a bad day and need to vent: the discuss option is a wonderful tool that can help you find the answers you maybe couldn't on your own or have some support from your peers that are going through the same situation.

Favorite Veterinary Life Hack

A good tip for an equine clinic is to save all 5L bags, these come in handy for multiple purposes: they can become ice bags for foundering feet, they can be warming bags for cold foals, they can be teaching bags for training new technicians or demos for tours and educational talks.

Reasons I love working in the veterinary field

I love working in the veterinary field because I actually feel like I am making a difference. Being a technician it is not always about the patient, sometimes it has to do with supporting a vet that is getting down on them self and sometimes it's supporting an owner that is having to make some hard decisions. I mostly love being able to work with horses every day, in any other setting I would never be able to see the diversity in breeds and medical procedures.
